Palm Springs DUI Checkpoint Leads to One Arrest

Palm Springs Police Department made one DUI arrest during a sobriety checkpoint held Friday night in Palm Springs.

The checkpoint took place from 7 p.m. to midnight along East Alejo Road near Hermosa Drive, where officers contacted nearly 400 vehicles throughout the evening.

One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Police also cited three additional drivers for operating a vehicle without a valid license or with a suspended or revoked license.

According to police, the checkpoint location was selected based on a history of impaired driving-related crashes in the area.

Officials say DUI checkpoints are intended to improve roadway safety and remind drivers to plan ahead, use designated drivers or rideshare services, and avoid getting behind the wheel impaired.
