Two Indio Women Arrested in Thousand Palms Home Invasion

THOUSAND PALMS, California — Two nineteen-year-old women from Indio are behind bars following their arrests in connection with a violent home invasion and attempted kidnapping in Thousand Palms. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody without incident earlier this week following a multi-week investigation by the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team.

The legal case stems from an emergency call on Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Deputies responded to a residence located along the 73000 block of Black Eagle Drive in the unincorporated community of Thousand Palms regarding a dynamic assault in progress. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies interviewed a female resident who reported that multiple suspects had forced their way into her home. Once inside, the intruders launched a physical assault against the homeowner and her sister.

During the violent encounter, one of the suspects actively attempted to drag the primary victim out of the residence by force. The abduction attempt failed, and the suspects fled the immediate area before law environment arrived. While a perimeter search of the neighborhood by responding deputies was initially unsuccessful, specialized investigators assumed the case and successfully identified nineteen-year-old Brinee Alysa Lopez and nineteen-year-old Genecis Lupita Rodriguez as the primary suspects involved in the targeted attack.

Following the issuance of arrest warrants, the sheriff's department tracked both women to Indio. On Monday, June 8, 2026, deputies located Lopez near the 82000 block of Avenue 42, placing her under arrest. The following day, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, tactical teams located and arrested Rodriguez near the 44000 block of Arabia Street. Both suspects were transported and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, where they remain in custody.

The two teenagers face separate felony charges based on their alleged involvement in the residential breach. Lopez has been booked on suspicion of first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and felony battery. Rodriguez faces charges of first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and felony vandalism. The underlying motive for the home invasion remains under active investigation by regional robbery units, and authorities are urging anyone with supplemental information regarding the incident to contact the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station.
