USPS Mail-In Ballot Threat Puts Midterm Voters at Risk

The U.S. Postal Service could soon refuse to deliver mail-in ballots in states that won't hand over their voter registration lists to the federal government, a move that critics warn could keep millions of Americans from casting their votes in the upcoming midterm elections.
The proposed rules stem from a March executive order signed by President Donald Trump, directing federal agencies to crack down on mail-in voting. Under the plan, states that decline to share their voter rolls with the government would lose access to mail ballot delivery, effectively cutting off a voting option that many Americans, including seniors, disabled residents, and those living in rural areas, rely on.
Twenty-three Democratic-led states and the District of Columbia are suing to block the directive, arguing it would disenfranchise voters ahead of the midterms. The White House defends the plan, saying it is intended to strengthen election security.
No final rule has been issued yet, and court challenges could delay or block the policy from taking effect before November.
