A Small Michigan Town Is Putting the Flag Back in Everyone's Hands
A new documentary is making the case that the American flag belongs to everyone, and it's coming to Cathedral City just in time for Flag Day.
"Flag Day," produced by Abramorama Pictures, follows the world's largest Flag Day parade in Three Oaks, Michigan, a small Midwest town that husband-and-wife filmmakers Andrew and Melissa Shea say genuinely surprised them. "I think how inclusive the town is, and how they embrace everyone, and it's not just on this day, but it is year round," Melissa said.
The film isn't really about a parade, the directors say. It's about a community that comes together each year to celebrate veterans and what the flag means to them.
Manny the Movie Guy, who sat down with the directors for NBC Palm Springs, called the film "entertaining and hopeful."
"Flag Day" screens at the Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral City this Sunday and Monday.
