First up, it is National Corn on the Cob Day, and if that does not immediately bring to mind a summer picnic with a grill going and a coffee can of melted butter nearby, here is your reminder to plan one. Whether you go full typewriter style across the cob or prefer to cut neat little rows, today is the day to lean into it. Just do not forget the floss.

Also on today's calendar is National German Chocolate Cake Day, and here is a fun fact to drop at your next gathering: the cake has nothing to do with Germany. It is named after Samuel German, an English-American baker who created the recipe. Rich, gooey, and sweet, it is worth celebrating regardless of its origins.
