Galilee Center's Back-to-School Supply Drive Aims to Reach Over 800 East Valley Kids
Summer just started, but the Galilee Center in Mecca is already thinking about the fall. The nonprofit is collecting new school supplies now through August 3 to help more than 800 low-income children across the East Coachella Valley start the school year ready to learn.
The center is looking for backpacks, pencils, mechanical pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, composition books, rulers, and glue sticks. Monetary donations are also welcome at galileecenter.org/donate.
Everything collected will go directly to students at a distribution event on August 6. The event serves kids in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The center is also asking local businesses and organizations to sign up as drop-off collection sites before the deadline. Anyone interested in hosting a donation bin can call 760-396-9100.
