Red Roses, Peanut Butter and a Pop Quiz: Test Your Holiday Knowledge This Friday
Friday's Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz, brought to you by One Coachella Valley, covered three of June 12's most delightful observances. National Movie Night, celebrated on the second Friday of June each year, encourages everyone to catch a film, whether that means heading to a local theater or settling in at home in pajamas. National Peanut Butter Cookie Day calls for just three ingredients, peanut butter, sugar and an egg, with that signature crisscross fork pattern on top. And National Red Rose Day carries some presidential history behind it, as the red rose was proclaimed the national floral emblem by Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, fittingly announced from the White House Rose Garden.
With red roses as the theme, Steffen brought two trivia questions to the morning crew. Think you know your classic films and your Beatles history? Here is what was on the quiz:
1) A beloved classic song opens with the lyrics about trees of green and red roses too. Louis Armstrong's recording of the track became a hit in England in 1968, but it didn't chart in the United States until it was featured in a major Hollywood film nearly two decades later. Which film finally brought it stateside?
A) Blue Velvet
B) Good Morning Vietnam
C) Tootsie
2) Following the albums Ram and Wildlife, a former Beatle released Red Rose Speedway in 1973. The record is best known for its Billboard chart-topping ballad My Love. Which member of the Fab Four is behind that early 70s album?
A) George Harrison
B) John Lennon
C) Paul McCartney
