Billy Reed’s Restaurant Enters New Chapter After More Than 50 Years
After serving generations of locals and visitors for more than 50 years, Billy Reed's Restaurant is officially in escrow and preparing for a new chapter.
The iconic Palm Springs restaurant, founded by Billy Reed in 1975, has long been considered more than just a place to eat — serving as a gathering place for families, visitors and even celebrities over the decades.
Reed, who opened the restaurant as a young entrepreneur, says many doubted his vision at first, but the eatery grew into one of the desert’s most recognizable dining institutions.
Now, Reed is handing over the business to incoming owners Michael Levy and Josh Jennings, who say preserving the restaurant’s legacy is their top priority.
The pair say their connection to Billy Reed’s goes back years, with family memories and longtime traditions helping inspire their decision to take ownership.
They say customers can expect many of the restaurant’s signature touches to remain, including longtime staff, familiar menu favorites and the nostalgic atmosphere that has made the restaurant special for generations. The new ownership team also plans to revive menu items that disappeared over the years while maintaining the restaurant’s historic charm.
The restaurant will remain open during the escrow process, and new owners say they hope to host a community celebration later this year welcoming both longtime regulars and new guests.
As for Billy Reed, he says he plans to stop by often and hopes the next chapter brings continued success to the restaurant he built.
