Dr. Carreón Foundation Awards Scholarships to Local Students

The Dr. Carreón Foundation held its annual scholarship award ceremony Sunday at Shadow Hills High School in Indio.

The event recognized graduating seniors and students continuing their higher education, celebrating academic achievement and community support.

Foundation leaders also marked a major milestone, announcing the organization has been named the 2026 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization for the Coachella Valley by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Since its founding in 1991, the foundation says it has awarded nearly $3 million in scholarships to close to 1,500 students.

This year alone, the organization surpassed 100 scholarship awards, providing roughly $360,000 in educational support to students.

Foundation leaders say the scholarship program continues to expand thanks to strong partnerships with community organizations, donors and grant support.

The organization says its mission remains focused on helping students locally and across the country pursue higher education opportunities.
