Palm Springs Celebrates Juneteenth With Free Three-Day Freedom Weekend

Palm Springs is celebrating Juneteenth Freedom Weekend with a free three-day community event taking place June 18 through June 20.

Presented by the City of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Black History Committee, the weekend will honor the history and legacy of Juneteenth through music, cultural gatherings and community celebrations.

The festivities begin June 18 with a kickoff celebration during VillageFest in downtown Palm Springs.

On June 19, the celebration continues with a unity picnic and live concert, including a Tina Turner tribute performance.

The weekend wraps up June 20 with a Juneteenth youth pageant at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center.

City organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together while honoring Black history, culture and freedom through a weekend of celebration and reflection.
