Suspect At Large After Coachella Vehicle Pursuit

A suspect remains on the run tonight after leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit through Coachella.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted a traffic stop just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday near Tripoli Way and Baghdad Avenue for an unspecified vehicle code violation.

Authorities say the driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit through the city.

The chase came to an end on Calle Avila in Coachella when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a parked car.

Investigators say the driver then fled the scene on foot.

A search involving deputies and a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol was launched but ultimately proved unsuccessful.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the suspect remains outstanding as the investigation continues.
