New Traffic Signal Coming to Indian Canyon Drive and Via Escuela

Construction on a new traffic signal at the intersection of Indian Canyon Drive and Via Escuela picks back up Wednesday, June 17, and drivers in the area should expect occasional lane closures and minor delays through the summer.
The city says the project came out of its Local Road Safety Plan and community feedback about the need for better safety at one of Palm Springs' busier intersections.
Crews will kick off with signage and utility markings on Wednesday, with underground utility work expected to begin the week of June 22. The city says at least one lane in each direction will stay open at all times and no full road closures are planned, though drivers should consider taking alternate routes when possible to avoid backups near the construction zone.
The city says the project came out of its Local Road Safety Plan and community feedback about the need for better safety at one of Palm Springs' busier intersections. Work is expected to be completed in September 2026.
