California Offering Free State Park Passes Through End of Year
California residents can now visit many of the state's historic parks for free through the end of the year.
Governor Gavin Newsom announced the free Historian Passport this week in recognition of Juneteenth and as part of celebrations marking the nation's 250th anniversary.
The pass, which normally costs $50, can be claimed at ReserveCalifornia.com between June 16 and July 6.
The Historian Passport provides free admission for up to four people at more than 30 historic state parks across California.
State officials say the program is designed to encourage residents to explore California's rich history while making historic sites more accessible to families and visitors.
The passport remains valid through the end of the year, giving Californians several months to take advantage of free access to participating parks and historic landmarks.
