Evacuation Orders Downgraded as Shore Fire Reaches 40% Containment

An update on the Shore Fire burning near Calimesa.

According to CAL FIRE, evacuation orders for two zones impacted by the wildfire have been downgraded to evacuation warnings as firefighters continue making progress.

The fire broke out Monday just south of Calimesa and has burned more than 3,000 acres. Fire officials report the blaze is now 40% contained.

In another positive development, Highway 60 has reopened near Interstate 10 after being affected by firefighting operations.

The Palm Springs Fire Department was among the agencies called in to assist with the response. Officials say Palm Springs crews have since completed their assignment and returned to their station.

Firefighters remain on scene working to strengthen containment lines and monitor conditions as the incident continues.
