McDonald's brings back its fried apple pie just in time for America's 250th birthday

McDonald's is bringing its fried apple pie back to menus nationwide starting June 23, timing the comeback to the country's 250th birthday. The dessert first showed up on the menu in 1968, but the company swapped it out for a baked version in 1992, and it's been gone ever since.
Most locations across the country will carry the fried version again, though only for a limited time before it potentially disappears once more.
To mark the return, McDonald's is also putting up a 35-foot fried apple pie near its headquarters in Illinois.
