Palm Springs Library Partners With Palm Springs Power to Promote Summer Reading
The Palm Springs Public Library and the Palm Springs Power baseball team are joining forces this summer to promote reading and community engagement.
As part of the partnership, Library Director Jeannie Kays is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Palm Springs Power's home game against the Inland Valley Bucks on June 23.
The collaboration is designed to encourage residents of all ages to participate in the library's summer reading efforts while enjoying one of the Coachella Valley's favorite summer traditions.
In addition to the first-pitch ceremony, the library is offering free admission to all Palm Springs Power home games through July 17 for anyone who presents a Palm Springs library card at the box office.
Library officials say the promotion highlights the connection between education, recreation and community involvement. The initiative also provides an opportunity for residents to take advantage of library resources while supporting local baseball.
The Palm Springs Power, a long-standing collegiate summer baseball team, attracts fans from across the valley each season. By partnering with the library, the organization hopes to encourage more families and young readers to get involved in both reading programs and community events.
Officials say the promotion is a fun and accessible way to celebrate literacy during the summer months while bringing together baseball fans and library supporters.
The first pitch ceremony and game against the Inland Valley Bucks will take place June 23, with free admission opportunities for library cardholders continuing through July 17.
