Shore Fire Now 84% Contained, No Longer Growing

The Shore Fire in Calimesa is nearing full containment this morning. Cal Fire says the blaze is 84% contained and hasn't grown in several days, holding at 3,085 acres.

The fire broke out Monday morning and spread quickly by Tuesday, sending smoke and ash into the Coachella Valley from 40 miles away.

All evacuation orders have now been lifted. One warning remains in place around the fire's perimeter, meaning people nearby should still be ready to leave if conditions change.

Crews spent Thursday strengthening containment lines and mopping up hotspots still smoldering within the burn area. A damage inspection team is now going through the area to assess which structures were hit. No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters will keep working through the weekend, continuing patrols and repair work along the fire's edge.
