Traffic Delays Expected Monday for South Palm Canyon Bridge Work in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Drivers in Palm Springs are being urged to plan ahead Monday as major construction work on the South Palm Canyon Bridge project is expected to cause significant traffic delays.

City officials say traffic holds will take place along South Palm Canyon Drive from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. as crews deliver and install massive 90-foot bridge beams into the construction zone.

The temporary closures will impact the stretch between East Camino Parocela and Mesquite Avenue, where flaggers will periodically stop traffic to allow for beam deliveries and crane lifts.

Officials warn that drivers traveling through the area during those hours should expect delays and consider alternate routes if possible.

The work is part of the ongoing South Palm Canyon Bridge improvement project, a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving traffic flow and safety in one of Palm Springs’ busiest corridors.

Commuters heading into the new work week are encouraged to leave early and stay alert for changing traffic patterns as crews continue this large-scale bridge operation.
