Desert Town Hall Names 2026 Youth Ambassador Scholarship Recipients Across Coachella Valley

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — The Coachella Valley’s premier lecture series has officially recognized its next generation of civic leaders. Desert Town Hall, presented by the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, announced its highly anticipated 2026 Youth Ambassador Scholarship recipients on Monday, June 22, 2026. Twelve standout students representing various high schools across the desert region were chosen to receive individual academic scholarships ranging from 500 dollars to 1,000 dollars. According to program coordinators, the recipients were selected based on an exceptional combination of academic excellence, peer leadership, and active, insightful participation in the Youth Town Hall program throughout the year.

The Youth Ambassador program serves as a critical bridge between international policy leaders and local youth. Operating alongside the main evening lecture series hosted at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa in Indian Wells, the youth program grants high schoolers rare, direct access to global figures. Before the speakers address an audience of nearly 2,000 ticket holders, they sit down with a select group of 150 local students for an intimate, unscripted afternoon forum. This dynamic environment empowers teenagers to develop communication, interview, and critical thinking skills by asking world-renowned politicians, journalists, and thought leaders compelling, unedited questions regarding current global affairs.

The landmark 2026 season exposed this year's scholarship recipients to an unusually diverse array of perspectives on foreign and domestic issues. The high schoolers engaged in rigorous dialogues with an elite roster of presenters, including national security expert and former Deputy National Security Advisor K.T. McFarland, Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier, and world-renowned portrait photographer Platon. The students also witnessed a collaborative debate on civil discourse between prominent commentators Ben Shapiro and Van Jones, who sat together to model bipartisan open dialogue and demonstrate how to handle conflicting opinions constructively.

Organizers emphasize that the structural core of the ambassador framework is to challenge young minds to process complex perspectives while forging meaningful connections with peers from different socio-economic backgrounds. Representing 22 area high schools across the valley, the program helps level the academic playing field for regional youth. The newly disbursed scholarship funds are intended to provide flexible financial assistance to the 12 recipients as they transition into higher education, allowing them to pursue specialized degrees in fields ranging from civil engineering and business finance to law, political science, and broadcast journalism.
