Two-Vehicle Collision at La Quinta Intersection Sends One Person to Hospital
LA QUINTA, Calif. — A two-vehicle traffic collision disrupted the mid-afternoon commute in La Quinta on Monday, June 22, 2026, leaving one individual injured and requiring emergency medical transport. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene shortly after 2:00 p.m. following multiple emergency calls regarding a disruptive crash at the busy intersection of Washington Street and Lake La Quinta Drive. Upon arrival, first responders located the two heavily damaged vehicles blocking the roadway, prompting localized traffic control measures to secure the area for emergency personnel.
Paramedics quickly evaluated both drivers at the scene of the intersection collision. One of the drivers involved sustained injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment. According to sheriff's officials, that driver was listed in stable condition at the time of transport. The driver of the second vehicle escaped the collision without reporting any major physical injuries, remaining on-site to provide statements to law enforcement.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department confirmed that the uninjured motorist remained fully cooperative with the responding traffic investigators. No citations have been issued and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident at this time. Traffic deputies are continuing their thorough investigation into the exact sequence of events that led up to the crash, looking into whether speed, distracted driving, or mechanical failure played a role. Motorists traveling through the corridor experienced brief delays while tow trucks worked alongside public safety crews to clear the scattered vehicular debris from the active lanes.
