Coachella City Councilmember Denise Delgado responds to approved recall petition

Coachella City Councilmember Denise Delgado is sharing her official response to an approved notice of intent to recall her from office.
In a written statement shared with NBC Palm Springs, Delgado stated she has "served with integrity, transparency, and accountability" and has "been attacked by a political faction comprised of convicted former mayors and their unethical cronies".
The councilmember's response comes weeks after podcast hosts Jesus Akin Gonzales and Vicente Hernandez announced their petition to recall councilmember Delgado and Councilmember Yadira Perez, stating both councilmembers "failed to make responsible decisions in matters affecting the city of Coachella".
Delgado pushed back on those claims in her statement, maintaining her reputation by citing the city's more than "$1.3 million dollar net income" and the city's "projected operating net income upwards of $300,00 dollars" under her leadership.
Delgado also stated the city has "committed more than $600,000 dollars this fiscal year to the Senior Center", an issue the Councilmember has been heavily criticized for by the authors of the petition, who claim the city has not made enough efforts to support the senior community.
The statement also included an update on the city's efforts to implement a permanent data center ban. According to the statement, "the permanent ban will be coming forward to the City Council meeting on August 26th for adoption."
The Riverside County Registrar of Voters has received the petition to recall and is currently verifying the collected signatures. We reached out to Councilmember Yadira Perez for a statement and are still waiting for a response.
