High School Students Launch Original Films at Palm Springs International ShortFest Bootcamp

A new generation of cinematic storytellers took over the Palm Springs International ShortFest on Thursday, June 25, 2026, as high school students from across the Coachella Valley participated in the festival's highly anticipated Filmmaker Bootcamp.

The free, one-day intensive program was designed to demystify the entertainment industry, offering teenagers a collaborative environment to learn the technical and creative mechanics of filmmaking from concept to final cut.

This is a really cool way to start learning and start making things when you're young, so by the time you're going to college—if you want to go to college—you are already well-versed in the industry."
