Pet of the Week: Animal Samaritans Spotlights Pugs Goblin & Gremlin
Two adorable pug puppies are stealing hearts as this week's featured pets from Animal Samaritans.
Goblin and Gremlin, a brother-and-sister duo, are currently available for adoption and are known for their playful personalities and affectionate nature. While the pair would love to be adopted together, Animal Samaritans says they can also thrive in separate homes and adapt well to new families.
Animal Samaritans representative Valerie Katz reminds viewers that many purebred dogs can often be found in local shelters and rescue organizations, encouraging prospective pet owners to consider adoption before purchasing from breeders.
The organization will host an adoption event on Saturday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Petco on Highway 111. If Goblin and Gremlin have not already found homes, they may be available to meet attendees at the event.
Animal Samaritans also highlighted an ongoing need for homes for cats and kittens during peak kitten season and is currently offering a two-for-one adoption special on cats.
With summer temperatures soaring across the Coachella Valley, Katz urged pet owners to take extra precautions with flat-faced breeds such as pugs, bulldogs and Persian cats. Because of their facial structure, these animals are more susceptible to overheating and heat-related illnesses.
Pet owners are encouraged to exercise dogs during cooler morning hours, avoid hot pavement, and ensure pets have access to shade, water and air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
For more information about adoptable pets and upcoming events, residents can contact Animal Samaritans or visit their adoption center.
