Team USA Stays Locked In Ahead of World Cup Clash with Turkey

The United States may already be through to the knockout round, but don’t expect the pedal to lift off the floor just yet.

United States men's national soccer team enters Thursday night’s World Cup showdown with Turkey national football team with two wins in two matches, already guaranteed to top Group D. But players say the mission is simple: keep winning.

After dominant victories over Paraguay and Australia, confidence around the team is rising like steam off summer asphalt, and the Americans want to keep that heat rolling into the knockout stage.

Star midfielder Christian Pulisic could return to the lineup after missing the last match with a calf injury. Pulisic says he’s feeling good and hopes to get back on the field, though manager Mauricio Pochettino says his role will be determined closer to kickoff.

Pochettino has stressed that Turkey, despite being eliminated, remains dangerous and motivated to finish strong. He’s also expected to rotate his lineup to protect key players carrying yellow cards, including Chris Richards, Tyler Adams, Folarin Balogun and Antonee Robinson.

The match kicks off at SoFi Stadium, where the U.S. opened its tournament with a commanding win over Paraguay. With fan support swelling and knockout soccer around the corner, Team USA says the goal hasn’t changed.

Win everything.
