Dr. Carreón Foundation Connects Scholarship Recipients at Networking Mixer

The Dr. Carreón Foundation hosted a networking mixer at College of the Desert, providing scholarship recipients with an opportunity to connect, learn and celebrate their academic achievements.

The event brought together this year's scholarship recipients, foundation supporters and community leaders for an afternoon focused on education, mentorship and professional development.

Special guest Dr. Esparza, superintendent of Palm Springs Unified School District, shared her personal educational journey, encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new opportunities and continue pursuing their goals despite challenges.

Throughout the event, scholarship recipients introduced themselves and spoke about their educational paths, career ambitions and the impact the foundation's support has had on their lives. Organizers say the mixer was designed to help students build relationships with fellow scholars while expanding their professional networks.

The Dr. Carreón Foundation has been investing in local students for more than three decades. Since its founding in 1991, the organization has awarded more than 1,400 scholarships to students throughout the Coachella Valley, helping reduce financial barriers to higher education.

Foundation leaders say supporting students extends beyond financial assistance, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, networking opportunities and community engagement as recipients continue their educational and professional journeys.

The annual networking mixer remains one of the foundation's signature events, bringing together current scholars and community leaders committed to helping students succeed.
