Free HIV Testing Events Planned Across the Coachella Valley for National HIV Testing Day

In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, DAP Health is hosting a series of free HIV testing events across the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities.

Beginning tomorrow, eight testing events will offer free rapid HIV tests and self-test kits at locations in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Coachella and San Jacinto. No appointments are required, making it easier for community members to know their HIV status.

An additional testing event will be held during a community block party in Palm Springs on June 27. DAP Health will also host testing opportunities at several Revivals store locations as part of its outreach efforts.

Health officials say HIV continues to be a significant public health concern, and routine testing plays an important role in early detection, timely treatment and reducing the spread of the virus.

Knowing one's HIV status allows individuals to access medical care sooner, make informed healthcare decisions and, if necessary, begin treatment that can help them live long, healthy lives while preventing transmission to others.

Organizers encourage anyone who is sexually active or believes they may be at risk to take advantage of the free testing opportunities.

DAP Health says all testing is confidential, and no appointment is necessary for any of the scheduled events. Information about testing locations and times is available through the organization's community outreach resources.
