Fire Temporarily Closes Palm Springs Cultural Center

The Palm Springs Cultural Center is temporarily closed after a fire broke out Saturday evening.

The fire was reported around 7:35 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find flames burning in the building's roof and attic space. Approximately 30 people were safely evacuated as a precaution.

Palm Springs Fire Department crews brought the fire under control just before 8:30 p.m. A total of 31 firefighters responded to the incident.

No injuries were reported.

As a result of the fire, the Cultural Center canceled Friday's scheduled screening of Meet Me in St. Louis. Theater officials say refunds will be issued to ticket holders.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
