North Shore Homicide Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting

A homicide investigation is underway after a deadly shooting in the North Shore community near the Salton Sea.

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies responded just after midnight Sunday to the 98000 block of Surfside Avenue following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

When deputies arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A 43-year-old man was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. A 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Detectives have not announced any arrests and are working to identify the person or people responsible.
