Saks Global Emerges From Bankruptcy, Rebrands as Exemplar Luxury Group

Saks Global has announced it has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is rebranding under a new name: Exemplar Luxury Group.

The company is the parent of luxury retail giants Saks Fifth AvenueNeiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman.

Saks filed for bankruptcy in January after struggling with mounting debt tied to its acquisition of Neiman Marcus, along with difficulty paying vendors and navigating broader market challenges.

The luxury retailer, like much of the high-end retail sector, has faced pressure as shoppers pull back on expensive purchases amid persistent inflation and economic uncertainty.

In a press release, Exemplar said it has reduced its debt load by nearly 75% and plans to focus on driving long-term profitable growth across its luxury brands.

The company currently operates 49 full-line stores nationwide, including one in Palm Desert, a major shopping destination in the Coachella Valley known for its high-end retail corridor.
