San Diego Venezuelan Community Mobilizes Relief Efforts After Deadly Earthquake
The Venezuelan community in San Diego is rallying to support victims of a catastrophic earthquake that has killed at least 1,150 people.
Community leaders with Casa de Venezuela say they are working urgently to coordinate relief efforts and send aid to those impacted by the disaster. The organization says hospitals and infrastructure in Venezuela are struggling to meet the overwhelming need for care and supplies.
Casa de Venezuela President Criseida Werdenberg says the situation is deeply personal for many Venezuelans living abroad, who are trying to balance daily life with concern for loved ones back home.
“There are no means for hospitals to really take care of patients,” she said, emphasizing the need for medical supplies and financial donations that can be delivered quickly to affected areas.
Organizers say efforts are focused on sending essential resources directly to hospitals and communities in need, especially as damaged infrastructure and limited government response complicate recovery efforts.
Despite the devastation, community members say their resilience remains strong as they continue to support relief efforts from afar.
