Windblown Dust Advisory Extended Across Coachella Valley Through Monday Morning
A windblown dust advisory has been extended across the Coachella Valley through at least Monday morning as strong winds continue to sweep through the region.
Forecasters say gusts could reach up to 50 miles per hour, creating hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility in some areas.
The advisory includes Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indio, La Quinta, Coachella, and Mecca.
Health officials are urging residents to stay indoors with windows closed to avoid exposure to dust and poor air quality. People with respiratory conditions, older adults, and children are especially encouraged to limit time outside.
Officials are also asking drivers to slow down, especially on dirt roads, to help reduce dust and improve visibility for everyone on the road.
