Firebirds Assistant Coach Stu Bickel Named Head Coach of Iowa Wild

The Coachella Valley Firebirds are saying goodbye to assistant coach Stu Bickel, who is moving on to a new head coaching role in the American Hockey League.

After four seasons with the Firebirds, Bickel has been named the head coach of the Iowa Wild.

In a statement posted by the Firebirds, the organization credited Bickel with playing a key role in establishing the team’s winning culture and helping develop players for the next level.

The team also wished him continued success in his new position.

Bickel released a statement expressing gratitude to the organization, saying he and his family are deeply thankful for their time in the Coachella Valley. He described his experience helping build the franchise as an honor and said the relationships and memories formed with the team will always hold a special place in his heart.
