Palm Springs Relaunches 'Love Local' Summer Gift Card Program with 50 Percent City Bonus

The City of Palm Springs has announced the return of its popular "Love Local" summer digital gift card program, aimed at boosting consumer spending and supporting the small business community during the quieter desert season. Scheduled to officially launch on July 13, 2026, the economic incentive program gives residents and tourists significantly increased buying power while driving immediate revenue directly into more than 130 participating shops, boutiques, and restaurants across the city.

Under the structured program guidelines, consumers can purchase digital gift cards via the official portal at LoveLocalPS.com in set denominations of 100, 200, or 300 dollars. To encourage widespread participation and maximize local economic impact, the City of Palm Springs will automatically inject a matching 50 percent bonus onto every purchased card at no additional cost to the buyer. Individual purchases are capped at a maximum of 300 dollars per person, meaning a shopper who maximizes the limit will receive an extra 150 dollars in city-funded bonus spending power.

In a public statement detailing the seasonal rollout, Palm Springs Mayor Naomi Soto emphasized that fostering long-term economic stability requires building a resilient, year-round economy. Recognizing that the intense desert summer heat historically presents a distinct financial challenge for localized merchants as seasonal tourism dips, Soto urged both full-time residents and valley visitors to deliberately shop, dine, and stay within the municipality to protect the small businesses that define the unique culture of the destination.

City officials have highlighted several critical terms and deadlines for consumers looking to capitalize on the financial incentive. Purchases made prior to the official July 13 launch date are strictly ineligible to receive the matching city funds. Furthermore, while the baseline, user-funded value of the digital gift cards will never expire, the city-subsidized 50 percent bonus funds are temporary and must be spent at local vendors before expiring on October 31, 2026.

Local merchants who are not yet enrolled but wish to join the network of participating vendors are being instructed to reach out immediately to Dean Grubl within the city's Economic Development Department. For general public inquiries, consumer terms, or to view the full directory of eligible establishments, community members can contact Public Information Officer Kitty Alvarado or visit the program's dedicated website.
