Coachella Valley Announces 4th of July Celebrations for the Nation's 250th Birthday
This weekend is the 4th of July, and it's a big one with the nation celebrating 250 years. Let's take a look at some options for you across the Coachella Valley this week.
The city of Coachella is kicking off its Independence Day celebration early with a free family event this Thursday at Bagdouma Park. The carnival-style celebration is set for Thursday night starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The Bagdouma Community Pool will also stay open until 10 p.m. It will be cool to see the fireworks from the pool with regular admission through the Desert Recreation District.
In Palm Desert, they're keeping things traditional this year with the usual 4th of July celebration at Civic Center Park. Festivities kick off at 4 p.m. with a kids zone featuring water slides, face painting, and carnival games, and food trucks will start rolling in around 5 p.m. The Swing Cats Big Band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m., and then at 9 p.m., fireworks will light up the sky. So bring your blanket, chair, and appetite—it's a free night out for the whole family.
If you want to join us on the 4th of July, we're partnering once again with Agua Caliente Casinos, who are going all out for the big bash. The show is in Rancho Mirage Saturday night with fireworks and a drone show at 9 p.m. Get there early for the drive-in experience in the South Lot starting at 6 p.m. with music, games, and free ice cream. Just a heads up: no RVs or trailers are allowed in the casino lots. We will broadcast the fireworks live on our sister station, KPSC, as well as stream it on our website and Facebook page.
