Desert Hot Springs Man Arrested After DUI Crash Knocks Out Power in Palm Springs

A Desert Hot Springs man is under arrest after police say he crashed into a power pole while driving under the influence early this morning.

Palm Springs police say 34-year-old Jose Angel Gonzalez drove into a power pole just after 2 a.m. at the intersection of North Gene Autry Trail and East Vistachino. Officers say Gonzalez showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested following a DUI investigation.

The crash knocked out power to about 240 Southern California Edison customers. All lanes are closed until 8:00 p.m., and the police department is urging drivers to avoid the area due to those downed power lines.
