Coachella Valley Escaramuza Team Raising Funds for National Championship in Mexico

A group of dedicated young equestrians from the Coachella Valley is working hard both in and out of the arena as they prepare to compete on one of the sport's biggest stages.

Las Valentinas, an Escaramuza team, is raising money to attend the 33rd National Children, Youth and Escaramuza Championship in Puebla, Mexico. The prestigious competition brings together talented riders from across Mexico and beyond, giving the young athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills while representing the Coachella Valley.

In addition to balancing school and regular practices, team members are spending time fundraising to help cover the significant costs of the trip.

Organizers say the expenses quickly add up. Families must pay for airfare, hotel accommodations, rental vehicles, and horses in Mexico since the riders cannot transport their own horses from California.

While the financial commitment is substantial, supporters say the experience and opportunity to compete at the national level will be invaluable for the young riders.

To help make the trip possible, Las Valentinas is holding a fireworks fundraiser in front of O'Reilly Auto Parts on 6th Street in Coachella. The fundraiser runs through Saturday, July 4, and community members are encouraged to stop by and show their support.
