U.S. Life Expectancy Reaches New Record High in 2025
New federal mortality data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that life expectancy in the United States likely reached a record high in 2025. The report found approximately 689 deaths per 100,000 people—the lowest mortality rate recorded in more than 100 years of tracking. Health experts say the continued decline in overdose-related deaths is one of the key factors contributing to the improvement in overall life expectancy.
