Walter Clark Legal Group Offers Free Safe Rides Home Over Fourth of July Weekend

The Walter Clark Legal Group is once again helping Coachella Valley residents celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July weekend by offering free rides home through its Safe Ride Home Program.

The program reimburses participants for up to $50 toward a one-way cab or rideshare trip from a bar, restaurant or private residence to a safe destination, such as a home or hotel.

The offer is available in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Indio and Coachella, along with several surrounding communities.

Organizers say the program has been operating for more than 20 years and continues to grow as more people take advantage of the opportunity to avoid driving after drinking.

"We have been doing this for over 20 years and can't tell you exactly how many different iterations there have been, but we do find that people are now starting to use it," organizers said. "It's encouraging because we keep reminding everybody that when it comes to drinking and driving, you cannot drink responsibly. We hope to be successful in providing an alternative."

To qualify, participants must register in advance through the program's Eventbrite page, be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license.

The Safe Ride Home Program is designed to encourage responsible choices during one of the busiest travel and celebration weekends of the year, helping reduce impaired driving and keep local roads safe for everyone.
