FIFA World Cup Gives Coachella Valley Restaurants a Summer Business Boost

The FIFA World Cup is delivering more than thrilling matches on the pitch—it's also providing a welcome economic boost for local businesses across the Coachella Valley during the slower summer months.

At La Fe Wine Bar in Palm Desert, soccer fans have been packing the restaurant to watch World Cup matches together, creating a festive atmosphere while boosting sales.

"It's been great," owner Herman said. "People are showing up, spending money. It's good for me as a business owner, and my staff is loving it because they're getting extra hours."

Customers often stay for the entire match, ordering food, wine and cocktails while cheering on their favorite teams. Staff members say the tournament has helped offset the typical slowdown that comes during the summer season.

"This time of year we do start to slow down a little bit, but the games have kept us really nice and busy, so this is great," one employee said.

Fans say watching matches in a restaurant adds to the excitement, giving friends and families a chance to gather and celebrate together.

"I grew up watching soccer, and it's all about community. It's about coming together," one fan said.

According to FIFA, the World Cup is generating billions of dollars in economic activity worldwide. As the tournament heads toward the championship match, La Fe Wine Bar is hoping the crowds continue to fill the restaurant.

"A game like today, we can see about a 50 percent increase in sales," Herman said. "The World Cup is what the world needed."
