Prosecutors expected to use text messages in Charlie Kirk murder case

Prosecutors expected to use text messages in Charlie Kirk murder case

A court hearing this week is expected to provide a closer look at the evidence prosecutors plan to use in the murder case against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September 2025.

According to CNN Newsource, prosecutors are expected to rely heavily on text messages Robinson allegedly exchanged with his former roommate on the day of the shooting. The messages, which were previously referenced in charging documents, reportedly discuss a rifle, a possible motive, and other details investigators believe are connected to the planning of the attack.

The roommate, who charging documents identify as Robinson's romantic partner at the time, allegedly provided the messages to investigators. CNN reports the texts were transcribed from court records that have already been made public.

The multiday hearing is expected to give prosecutors an opportunity to outline portions of their case before trial, while Robinson's defense will have the opportunity to challenge the evidence presented.

Robinson has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. The case remains pending, and the allegations against Robinson have not yet been tested at trial.
