Stamp prices set to rise Sunday if federal approval is granted

Mailing a letter could soon cost more as the U.S. Postal Service plans to raise the price of a Forever stamp, pending federal approval.

If approved, the price of a Forever stamp would increase from 78 cents to 82 cents beginning Sunday. Postcard rates would also rise, with domestic postcards increasing to 65 cents and international postcards rising to one dollar and 75 cents.

The Postal Service says the price adjustments are needed to help offset rising operating costs as it continues working to remain self-funded.

Stamp prices have steadily increased in recent years. In 2020, a Forever stamp cost 55 cents. Despite the increases, the Postal Service maintains that U.S. postage rates remain among the lowest in the world.
