Stocks finish higher as Nasdaq leads gains Monday

Wall Street closed higher Monday as all three major U.S. stock indexes posted gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 155.84 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 53,055.91.

The S&P 500 gained 54.19 points, or 0.72 percent, ending the session at 7,537.43.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq led the major indexes, climbing 288.49 points, or 1.12 percent, to close at 26,121.16.

Investors continued to monitor economic data and corporate developments as markets began a new trading week, with technology stocks helping drive Monday's gains.
