Hashtag Trivia
Dive Bars, Chocolate, and Rock and Roll Trivia
Tuesday, July 7th, is packed with reasons to celebrate, and Jerry Steffen breaks it all down in this week's Hashtag Holiday Calendar, brought to you by One Coachella Valley.
First up, it's National Dive Bar Day. The Urban Dictionary defines a dive bar as a well worn, unglamorous tavern that serves a cheap, simple selection of drinks, usually to a loyal group of regulars. Local favorites mentioned during the segment include the Red Barn before its remodel, Neil's Lounge, and the Ski Inn at Bombay Beach near the Salton Sea, a spot that's reportedly been serving drinks since the 1950s.
It's also World Chocolate Day, so there's no better excuse to reach for that chocolate covered treat, whether it's peanuts, pretzels, raisins, or the classic plain bar.
And rounding out the trio, today marks the National Day of Rock and Roll. Why this date? Back in 1955, "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets became the very first rock record to hit number one on the Billboard charts.
To celebrate rock and roll's big day, Jerry brought two music trivia questions to the table, and it's your turn to see if you can beat the crew. No spoilers here, so press play on the video above and test your knowledge along with them.
