Meet Betty Boop, this week's Pet of the Week from Coachella Valley Animal Campus
Betty Boop is a two year old shepherd mix who came in as a stray back in June and has now been waiting at the shelter for more than 30 days. She's about 44 pounds, described by shelter staff as "picture perfect" and calm enough to pose right on cue. She does well on a leash, loves treats, and once she settles in she's happy to curl up on a lap and hand out kisses.
Veronica Perez with the shelter says Betty Boop is an all-around good girl who would do well in just about any home, and that she's not expected to grow much bigger than she already is.
Betty Boop's adoption fee is waived through BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event, running July 5 through July 26 at all Riverside County shelter locations. The event comes as shelters remain more than 230% over capacity following the busiest intake weekend of the year around the Fourth of July, with every kennel filled and new animals arriving daily. Riverside County Animal Services says it urgently needs adopters and foster homes to help create space for the animals still waiting.
Anyone interested in meeting Betty Boop, or fellow shelter dogs Abby and Jazzy, can visit rcdas.org/adopt to see available pets.
