Palm Springs Police, Fire Departments Face Off in 'Battle of the Badges' Blood Drive

The Palm Springs Police Department and Palm Springs Fire Department are going head-to-head today in a friendly Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, competing to see which agency can bring in more blood donors.

The competition comes at a time when blood banks need extra support. The American Red Cross says summer is one of the most difficult seasons for blood donations because schools are out of session and many routine blood drives slow down. Even with fewer donors, the need for lifesaving blood remains constant.

The blood drive is taking place today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at O'Donnell Golf Club, located at 301 N. Belardo Road in Palm Springs.

Community members are encouraged to donate blood while supporting either the police or fire department in the friendly rivalry.

Donors can schedule an appointment by scanning the QR code on event flyers or by visiting RedCrossBlood.org and entering the sponsor keyword PSPD.

As a thank-you, eligible donors may receive a limited-edition Red Cross x Looney Tunes T-shirt, while supplies last.

Organizers hope the event helps boost the local blood supply during a time of year when donations typically decline but the demand for blood remains steady.
