Cathedral City Celebrates "Ethylina Canne Day"

It was a celebration in Cathedral City Sunday afternoon honoring the birthday of local performer and philanthropist Ethylina Canne.

The popular drag entertainer was recognized for years of raising money for nonprofit organizations in Cathedral City and across the Coachella Valley.

The city's mayor and communications manager presented a proclamation officially declaring today "Ethylina Canne Day" in Cathedral City.

Mayor Raymond Gregory and communications director Ryan Hunt praised Ethylina for not only recognizing needs in the community but actively working to meet them through fundraising events and outreach efforts.

Over the years, Ethylina has raised more than $100,000 for local organizations serving residents throughout the valley.

The celebration coincided with her monthly charity bingo event, produced by GED Magazine and hosted at The Roost Lounge.

Organizers say the popular bingo event will take a month off before returning in September.
