McConnell Says Fall and Pneumonia Sideline Him From Senate Return

After weeks of speculation about his health, Senator Mitch McConnell is providing an update on his condition.

McConnell said he recently fell at his home in Washington, D.C., and later contracted a mild case of pneumonia.

The longtime Kentucky senator said doctors have confirmed he did not suffer any broken bones or a concussion as a result of the fall.

McConnell also stressed that he did not experience a heart attack or a stroke, despite reports and rumors surrounding his hospitalization.

The senator was taken to the hospital from his home for evaluation and treatment and is expected to continue recovering over the coming weeks.

The U.S. Senate is scheduled to resume its session on Monday, but McConnell says he will miss some time as he focuses on his recovery.
