Fred Waring Drive closed in Indio after fatal rollover crash

One person is dead and another critically injured after a rollover crash in Indio off Fred Waring Drive Monday morning.

Riverside County Cal Fire says the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. when one vehicle rolled over. Both people inside were seriously hurt. One was taken to a local hospital, while the other died at the scene, according to first responders.

The occupants have not been identified.

Indio police are warning drivers to avoid Westbound Fred Waring Drive, which remains closed between Madison Street and Burr Street, and there's no estimated time for when it will reopen. Drivers are asked to find another route.
