Man Seriously Injured After Scooter Crash in Indio

A man riding an electric scooter was seriously injured after being struck by an SUV Tuesday evening in Indio.

According to the Indio Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Golf Center Parkway and Chandi Way.

Investigators say a Honda CR-V traveling northbound struck the 40-year-old man as he was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk while riding his electric scooter.

Emergency responders provided medical care at the scene before the victim was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries.

Police say the 38-year-old driver of the Honda CR-V remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.

The cause of the collision has not yet been determined, and investigators continue to gather evidence to determine exactly what led up to the crash.
