Palm Springs Surf Club draws World Cup fans with poolside watch parties
The FIFA World Cup is driving business around the world, and local businesses in the Coachella Valley are getting in on the excitement.
The Palm Springs Surf Club is giving soccer fans a unique place to watch the tournament by broadcasting every World Cup match on two giant screens overlooking its wave pool. The venue combines live soccer, surfing and the desert atmosphere to create a viewing experience unlike any other in the region.
Fans can watch every goal from poolside while surfers ride waves just feet away, offering a distinctive way to enjoy the world's biggest sporting event.
"It's amazing to see this big screen TV and these surfers surfing the waves at the same time. It's pretty cool," one fan said.
"It makes me feel really excited that people want to come here and they want to see the games here," a Palm Springs Surf Club employee said. "It just makes the whole experience, overall, even as me as an employee, it makes it just feel like a watch party."
The Palm Springs Surf Club plans to show every FIFA World Cup match throughout the tournament, giving soccer fans and visitors another destination to experience the excitement of the competition in the Coachella Valley.
